If you’re familiar with the 21 Day Fix program, it uses the same containers – so instead of counting every calorie or macro gram, you just fill your allocated containers as many times as your particular plan allows, and dump it on your plate…easy peasy! The twist with the 80 Day Obsession program is that it uses timed nutrition so you get your macro nutrients timed throughout your day with particular emphasis on your pre workout and post workout meal timings. I followed the equation in the guide to reveal I’m in plan A – this gives me the fewest container allowed on the plan, but as I’m quite a small person with not much to lose (although I can’t wait for the fat loss and muscle gain I’m going to develop on this program!) it’s expected. I work some strange shifts – I get up at 4am on my work days, and aim for a similar wake up on my days off. I’ve never been a morning person but since discovering how much I get done in those extra 3-5 hours where I used to sleep in, I’m trying my best to become a morning person! This makes the meal timing element a little harder. There’s a few example schedules in the program guide, but I needed to shift a lot of the meals around to get all 5 around 3 hours apart, with my pre and post workout meals timed appropriately. With the 21 Day fix, I found that without planning my meals, I’d end up with some weird combinations where I just grabbed any whole food that fit in the containers…so there was a few times I’d eat something ‘not meal like’ such as 2 boiled eggs, seeds, and half a banana just to ensure I ate the right containers. This time, I’ve decided to plan better. I’ve created a spreadsheet with an example day of meals, plus alternative meal suggestions that could fit in the same place.
